Women’s Labyrinth Gathering

The history of the labyrinth can be traced back at least 4000 years to rock carvings in Europe and India. They emerged in ancient Greece and Rome and then later in Christian iconography where they spread from Arctic Europe to North Africa. Labyrinths also have been found as far afield as Indonesia and the American south-west. A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. A circular but meandering path towards a centre. Walking a labyrinth may take the form of a moving meditation, a prayer for healing and change or simply an opportunity to be mindful. The Labyrinth Gatherings offer a day retreat for women wanting to connect with land and sky and to walk our beautiful labyrinth. We will work with Jungian and body-oriented processes, myth and story and some of the shamanic practices of my Kofan elders to weave a grid of healing and peace, to invite change and transformation. We will have time to rest and reflect and enjoy the beauty and spirit of this special valley. We’ll have a nice lunch, a bushwalk or a swim and spend a little time connecting with the earth and with a community of women.

Testimonial

“Alison’s property feels deeply Australian evoking childhood nostalgia of sunburnt country stillness, with boulder filled paddocks, the crackling of fire and time for quiet reflection. The energy of these days is women’s medicine, feeling nurtured through the company of a sisterhood. The labyrinth walk with its twists and turns unravels infinite recesses of mind as our personal stories cohere and our posture lengthens. Driving home with a quiet drum beat echoing the day’s journey and soaked in frankincense, it feels like time was slowed down to provide so much space.” – Kitti
